I am a final year PhD student in the University of Bristol now. I arrived in England about 3 years ago and wished to receive good training in psycholinguistics. It is my most favoriate job to become a scholar in some university and own my lab to test various assumptionsa dn theories. It is my anticipation to become a scholar in some universities and test various assumptions and theories in my own lab.
I once wrote a short story of The Memory in Lab. It was about a young boy who was often taken by his mother to a chemistry lab and sat in the front of a long bench. He learnt to observe different equippments on the shell and memorized various chemical pills in bottles. However, he was mostly keen on entering his mother's test-lab but his mother never let him in. This story was based on my real childhood's experience. Though my first degree was Chinese literature, I still perfer to become a scientist. I like data and try to make everything as simple as possible.
For me, writing is similar to encoding a programmer. Finally I will construct a world by my data as a programmer can run his script.
Meanwhile, I like reading English stories and wish to become an amateur writer in both Chinese and English. So I will introduce some English and Chinese story writers later. Currently most of my work concern with British politics and media. I call it "media complex" because I have some experiences in Chinese media and still try to trace this career's line. Pursuit this career. Recently I am reading Press Gang and maybe I could become someone in that book. I spend most of my time seeking my carrer in English media. So when you find me stuck got stuck or looked sort of bored, Don't worry, actually, I am deep in thinking, particularly thinking of what I have read in daytime and summarize them.
Therefore, I still want to extend my writing to some fictions and stories, not only media's report. But something in English. This is just a dream as Kafka described that I stay lonely in a room and keep writing. I think the room now is my mind.
So I have to answer the title question: I have spent too much time in Chinese writing and then this blog would provide me a space to think and write in English.
